Solo Shots win Big in Week 2, Gola Sets Record.

In yesterdays conference game against the Young Gunz, the Solo Shots bounced back from an embarrasing loss in week 1 and won in big fashion. The Solo Shots had a team record 8 Home Runs and kept on piling on runs, even when the Young Gunz fought back. Tim Gola went 7-7 with 5 Home Runs, and 11 RBI's. Joe Polkowitz also had a good game, going 5-6, with a Home Run, a double and 3 RBI's. Everybody on the team each hit a home run in the first inning, the first time ever that feat has been accomplished by any team. The Solo Shots closed out the game in the bottom of the 4th when Tim Gola hit his record setting 5th Home Run of the game, to put the shots up 12. The 10 run rule was then effective and the Solo Shots went home victorious.

The Solo Shots

Tim Gola - Tim, who also runs the league, is a consistant and brilliant batter. He owns 11 hitting records of the Bordentown Stickball league and looks to add more this season. Tim backs up his brilliant hitting with consistant fielding.

John Hull - John who was one of the four original Solo Shtos still on the team, is an outstanding 1st baseman, often scooping balls out of the dirt. Altough he has been struggling at the plate, Hull makes up for it with his defense and his superb relief pitching.

Joey Polkowitz - Joe is a 2 time Cy- Young winner, and looks for his 3rd thsi season. Joe is oen of the top pitchers in the league the last 3 years and shows no signs of slowing down. Joe often struggles at the plate, but when the game is on the line, Joe finds a way to get on base. It looks liek a promising eyar for Primetime Polkowitz.

Kyle McGonigal - Kyle is also one of the original Solo Shots and is an excellent hitter and an exceptional fielder. Although is was re-leased last season and signed again this year, Kyle looks ready to get back to his old form.

Wayne Cobbs - After showing flashes of talent late in the season last year as a fill in on the Ballbusters, Cobbs was signed by the Shot early in the offseason and will be playing centerfield.. Cobbs is a very quick player who will take alto of pressure off of left fielder Tim Gola. Cobb's will be lead loff batter this year for the shots and hopes to be the missing link for a Solo Shots championship.

Kara Lynch- Kara brings more than just diversity to the Solo Shots. She is excellent asset to the team and finds herself on base more times than most of the men in oru league. Kara backs up her high on-base percentage with stellar defense. After rotating from 3rd base and shortstop throguhout the year, Kara finds herself starting at shortstop the whole season this year.

Billy Berrios- Billy is the newest asset to the team, after being traded from the Young Gunz. Bilyl brings varsity baseball experience to an already skilled Solo Shots team. Billy is a timely hitter and fills the hole at third base. Bill's first ever stickball experience was orginally with the Solo Shots in 2005, when he was subsituting for one game. Since then he has had a rough two years with the struggling Young Gunz, but now looks to win a Championship.
